A series of 24 18-nucleotide primers with complete identity to the murine Btk cDNA sequence (GenBank L08967) were used to generate 380base pair overlapping products spanning the entire btk coding sequence. Full sequence information is available from the authors. 26. Filter lifts containing 5 x 105 plaques from a 129/Sv murine genomic X phage library were screened with a 0.6-kb unique region murine cDNA probe as described (3). Clones Btk-C and Btk-D were evaluated by restriction mapping, subcloned into pGEM7ZF(+), and partially sequenced by Sequenase (U.S. Biochemical) with T7, SP6, and btk unique region oligonucleotide primers. 27. Cortical feedback controls the frequency and synchrony of oscillations in the visual thalamus.
Thalamic circuits have an intrinsic capacity to generate state-dependent oscillations of different frequency and degrees of synchrony, but little is known of how synchronized oscillation is controlled in the intact brain or what function it may serve. The influence of cortical feedback was examined using slice preparations of the visual thalamus and computational models. Cortical feedback was m...

1. The patterns and synchronization of low-frequency, sleeplike rhythms (slow, spindle and delta oscillations) were compared in the intact-cortex and decorticated hemispheres of cats under ketamine-xylazine anesthesia. Intracellular recordings were performed in intact and decorticated hemispheres from 58 rostrolateral thalamic reticular (RE) neurons and from 164 thalamocortical (TC) neurons in ...
متن کاملSynaptic Plasticity Controls Sensory Responses through Frequency-Dependent Gamma Oscillation Resonance
Synchronized gamma frequency oscillations in neural networks are thought to be important to sensory information processing, and their effects have been intensively studied. Here we describe a mechanism by which the nervous system can readily control gamma oscillation effects, depending selectively on visual stimuli. Using a model neural network simulation, we found that sensory response in the ...
متن کاملAberrant Thalamocortical Synchrony Associated with Behavioral Manifestations in Git1-/- Mice
Cross-talk between the thalamus and cortex has been implicated in attention but its pathogenic role in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) remains unknown. Here, I demonstrate that Git1 (-/-) mice, previously proposed as an animal model for ADHD, show abnormal theta oscillation in the thalamus. Multi-electrode recordings revealed that Git1 (-/-) mice have hyper-synchrony of neural a...
متن کاملSlow oscillation in non-lemniscal auditory thalamus.
In the present study, we investigated the oscillatory behavior of the auditory thalamic neurons through in vivo intracellular and extracellular recordings in anesthetized guinea pigs. Repeated acoustic stimulus and cortical electrical stimulation were applied to examine their modulatory effects on the thalamic oscillation. The time course of the spike frequency over each trial was obtained by s...
متن کاملDynamic control for synchronization of separated cortical areas through thalamic relay
Binding of features and information which are processed at different cortical areas is generally supposed to be achieved by synchrony despite the non-negligible delays between these areas. In this work we study the dynamics and synchronization properties of a simplified model of the thalamocortical circuit where different cortical areas are interconnected with a certain delay, that is longer th...
